Board, Garden Club announce winners of 1st annual Curb Appeal Awards

The Eagle Nest Board and Garden Club are pleased and excited to announce the inaugural winners of our first annual "Curb Appeal Awards,'' an initiative to recognize properties that stand out as shining examples home maintenance and landscaping at their finest.

Judging of properties was conducted from June 25 to July15 by the Garden Club. Nearly 50 homes made the initial list of potential winners, which the club then narrowed to three homes. "It wasn't an easy decision," said Garden Club president Claudette Lane. "There were so many strong contenders; any one of them could have won."

And the winners are ...

First Place (right): Bob and Kathy Jackson, 8001 Bittern Lane, at the corner of Bittern and Warbler Way. The Jacksons win a $75 gift card.

Second Place (right): Frank and Lue Peterson,8320 Mockingbird Lane, a cul-de-sac off north Teel Way. The Petersons win a $50 gift card.

Third Place (right): Glenn and Janet Long, 8039 Tanager Lane. The Longs win a $25 gift card.

All three couples are longtime residents of Eagle Nest and have been around since the neighborhood's earliest days. Their efforts to maintain their properties serve as the gold standard of home ownership in Eagle Nest, and exemplify why our neighborhood continues to a popular and sought-after place to live. Well-kept properties translate into steady property values, and that's something we all can benefit from.

For the next week, each of the winners will display a Curb Appeal Award winner sign in their front yard, so residents can easily spot these exemplary properties.

Congrats to our Curb Appeal Award winners!

-- Board President Scott Thien, on behalf of the Garden Club
