Board Update April 2025: 82nd St. closure, dues reminder, storm drain issues, Easter Egg Hunt, Annual Meeting and Board election

82nd Street road construction closure April 7-15

According to an April 2 release from the City of Indianapolis, 82nd Street will be closed starting Monday, April 7, to Tuesday, April 15, between Craig Street and Castleton Road (basically between Speedway and Sparkling Image) for Nickel Plate Trail construction and railroad track removal.

Detour signage will direct drivers to use Allisonville Road, 96th Street and I-69 to navigate around the closure. Businesses in the area will remain accessible to the public, Roberts wrote.

Don’t get caught off guard! Plan ahead and leave early for work or school, as this will be a major disruption for the next week. (Take note, Starbucks lovers!)

Reminder: Annual dues payment deadline is May 31

Thank you to all those residents who have paid their annual dues so far this year. To date, about one-third of our lot owners have cleared their accounts, the average in the dues collection cycle. We know life is crazy busy, but a reminder payment is due by May 31 (with your updated Pool fob info on the back of the dues letter). After that, hefty progressive late fees recently approved by the Board will be added throughout June.

Can’t pay the full amount all at once? Contact the Board for a payment plan. We know times are tight for many folks, so we’re happy to work with residents to ensure everyone stays in good standing. Simply email enpoa_sec@att.net to make arrangements.

NOTE: If you choose to pay electronically via ACH, be aware that our QuickBooks accounting software charges a convenience fee of $25. That fee isn’t from Eagle Nest – it’s all QuickBooks. (Read the fine print before you hit that submit button, you’ll see.) The cheapest way to pay your dues? Drop your payment and dues form in our secure roadside mailbox outside the Clubhouse at 8075 Teel Way. No 73-cent stamp needed!

Annual Meeting June 19; three Board seats up for election

Want a say in neighborhood business and a key role in the future of our wonderful development? Run for our Board of Directors – three seats will be up for election at the June 19 Annual Meeting.

To submit your candidacy, email your name, contact information, lot number and a short paragraph (200 words or so) with your “platform” of neighborhood goals and what skills/experience you offer by May 10 to Board President Scott Thien at scottthien@comcast.net for posting on the blog and inclusion in the mailed ballots.

Help keep storm drains clear and keep our roadways safe

April rains are here, and that means it’s critical that we keep our street storm drains clear. All it takes is one heavy rain and clogged drains to transform our roads into impassable miniature lakes. Common problem areas are the west end of Tanager Lane, Bittern Lane, south end of Warbler Way near the three-way stop, and multiple spots along Teel Way.

Clear those drains: Please be a good neighbor and take a few minutes to ensure storm drains and easements are clear of leaves, litter, yard waste and other debris. Also, please don’t dump pollutants like pet waste, fuels, oils or paint in the drains. (A big thanks to the residents in the 7800 block of Tanager for keeping things clear!)

Don’t drown, turn around: Even though our neighborhood is flat, driving through standing water can be dangerous. You can’t see submerged potholes or hidden debris, and just a few inches of water can stall a car. If you see a big pool of water in the road, turn around and seek an alternate route.

Report water issues: For damaged or collapsed drains, broken water mains or other water emergencies, contact Citizens Energy at (317) 924-3311.

Annual Easter Egg Hunt is April 19 at the Clubhouse

In less than two weeks, Easter will be here and that includes our annual Easter Egg Hunt at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 19, at the Clubhouse. Parents, bring your little Eagle Nesters out to scramble and find plastic eggs filled with candy on the hill near our Playground. We’ll take a group photo, then let toddlers go first so they have a chance to get in on the action. The free event is geared for children 9 and younger, but don’t be late because the eggs go fast! (Sorry, teenagers and pre-teenagers.) Want to help? Email Social Committee Co-chairs Sarah Craney at mssarahjourdan@gmail.com or Marcella Kates at marcellakates@gmail.com.

Be sure to bookmark our blog Events page for more upcoming activities, including our annual Neighborhood Garage Sale in June.

Do you know a lifeguard looking for a job? Let us know!

Our Pool opens in less than two months, and that means we’re looking to finalize our lifeguard team. We have three to four open slots, so if you know someone interested in becoming a lifeguard – maybe your teen is looking for that great first job close to home – contact Pool Manager Samantha Burns at samanthaburns51@gmail.com. The perks: competitive pay; reasonable hours; friendly staff (mostly rising LN students); quiet facility compared to nearby Sahm Park; and partial reimbursement of state certification fees (terms and conditions apply).

Lot owners, if you suggest an applicant who turns into a first-time hire, you will earn a gift card. Applicants must be at least 15 years old, by the way. Our Pool opens May 25, so watch the Eagle Nest blog next month for our exciting Pool-opening plans and updates on the entry fobs.

Hague Road entrance sign update

We appreciate residents’ continued patience as we chase contractors to finish our Hague Road entrance sign. What seemed like a quick fix to restore lighting surfaced damage to the AES utility power source. Unfortunately, spring storms have kept AES repair crews busy, pausing our repairs and delaying reconnection work. Please continue to use caution as you enter the neighborhood and navigate past the pile of dirt and traffic cones. We hope to have an update in the next week or so.

On behalf of the Board,
Scott Thien
, President
