Jet's Pizza, Tijuana Flats coming to our Clubhouse this week with special deals for residents

We know everyone’s feeling cooped up lately amid the COVID-19 crisis, so the Board has been working behind the scenes to arrange two exciting and affordable food vendor stops at our Clubhouse this week. We see these as a convenient way to break up the monotony for kids and provide a great dinner option for families while supporting local business and franchise owners in our area. Who and when:

Wednesday, March 25, 5-7 p.m.: Jet’s Pizza! Yes, our popular summer partner will be selling $5 personal pizzas (pepperoni, sausage and cheese), boxed and ready to go. CASH ONLY (but the North Shadeland store is working on an alternate payment option). If you want a bulk order waiting for you, please email the number of pizzas and variety (pepperoni, sausage and cheese) to Jet’s Pizza General Manager Douglas Macias at douglasmac728@gmail.com (Eagle Nest residents only).

Friday, March 27, 5-7 p.m.: Tijuana Flats! The popular Tex-Mex food restaurant on East 96th Street is bringing their food truck to offer select $10 entrees – a choice of one burrito, two tacos, a rice bowl, big nachos or chopped romaine salad (all available in beef, chicken or bean). All come with tortilla chips and choice of toppings (jalapeno, onion, lettuce, tomato, shredded cheese, sour cream). Cash or credit card payments accepted.
Note: Per current CDC guidelines on “social distancing,” we do not want residents standing in lines. Please stay in your cars, wait respectfully in the “to-go” line and pull up to the vendor to place/retrieve your food order when it’s your turn.
 
Be sure to watch the Eagle Nest blog and Facebook page for more neighborhood outreach efforts as we work through these fluid and stressful times. In the meantime, please check in on your elderly neighbors (blog post!) and ensure they’re doing well. Hey, you could buy them dinner on Wednesday and Friday!

The Board hopes everyone’s fall season is off to a great start. October is shaping up to be a busy month in Eagle Nest – read on! 2023 Curb Appeal Awards winners announced! The Board is proud to recognize the following lots as winners of our 2023 Curb Appeal Awards, presented to Eagle Nest owners for their outstanding lot and house maintenance. First place (tied): 8031 Teel Way , above left, (Lot 52, Clayton Napier) and 8111 Warbler Way , above right (Lot 229, Todd and Rokeena Williams).  Both homes underwent extensive exterior renovations in recent years, including new roofing, new siding, new paint, wood repair, landscaping and more (all pre-approved by the Rules and Restrictions Committee, by the way). The owners could have saved considerable money by moving to a newer home in another neighborhood, but they chose to stay and invest in their properties. Board Update, 05-22-23: Pool opening, tags in mail; annual Garage Sale; dues deadline June 1; Annual Meeting and Board Election June 15

Summer unofficially begins Memorial Day weekend, and that means our Pool facility will be opening for the season. Our main and wading pools have been power-washed and filled, and our guard team will be working to balance the chemicals this week. Weather permitting, we are targeting noon Sunday for opening, but watch the Eagle Nest blog and our Facebook page for the official day and time. For 2023, hours of operation will be noon to 8 p.m. daily. We have a great lifeguard team in place again this year. Their No. 1 charge? Safety. When it comes to rules, what our guard staff says goes. No exceptions. Violators will be ejected and referred to the Board for further action. Bottomline: This is a family-oriented neighborhood facility, not a public pool playhouse, and want to keep it enjoyable for all. Board update: Pool closing Labor Day, annual dog swim, Curb Appeal Awards, live music coming to Clubhouse!

Pool closes Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 4  All good things come to and end, as the saying goes, and that includes our 2023 Pool season. Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 4, is the last day of operation for our facility, with hours from noon to 8 p.m. It’s been a great summer of swimming, despite a few mechanical and staffing issues, so please be sure to thank Pool Manager Samantha Burns and her lifeguard staff for a job well done. For the most part, our facility was staffed and open daily the entire summer, unlike many of the city’s public pools – including nearby Sahm Park. We hope to see all our guards back next year, but if you know someone interested in joining the Eagle Nest Pool staff, please contact Samantha. In the meantime, enjoy these last days of swimming!
