Facility updates, closures due to the COVID-19 outbreak

Dear residents,

We hope this post finds you and your families doing well despite the ongoing COVID-19 crisis. It’s been a long couple of weeks, we know, but it’s been nice to see more residents out walking and some of the fun sidewalk drawings by kids.

As you know, Indiana’s stay-at-home order has been extended until April 20 and Indianapolis’ mandate is until May 1, so as a result please note the following neighborhood updates:

Clubhouse rentals: All rentals have been suspended until further notice. We’re hoping to reopen the facility on May 1, but the Board will make that determination based on CDC guidelines at that time. This closure also means all Bridge Club and Euchre Club meetings are canceled until further notice.

Playground, tennis and basketball courts: Per guidance of our legal counsel, the playground, basketball court and tennis courts are closed until further notice. The courts typically open Memorial Day weekend, but the Board will make a decision on reopening those facilities based on the the health environment at that time.

Food trucks: We will continue to invite food truck vendors to the Clubhouse as schedules permit and if residents continue to observe proper social distancing guidelines. The stops by Jet’s Pizza, Bagel Boss and Tijuana Flats have been well received and enjoyed by hundreds of our residents, and we'd like to continue as long as the stay-at-home orders are in place. If you have vendor suggestions and contacts please email Board President Scott Thien at scottthien@comcast.net.

Pool opening: It is our intention to open the Pool on Memorial Day weekend, per tradition, but that, too, will depend on current CDC guidelines and guard staffing. If you know certified guards looking for summer work, please contact Pool Manager Samantha Burns at samantha.burns51@gmail.com.

Pet request: Now that nice weather is here and pet owners are out walking their furry friends more frequently, residents are reminded to pick up after their animals. Aside from common courtesy, it’s your doo-dooty (sorry, had to). It’s also required under city ordinance. And if you have a vocal outdoor dog, please be considerate and respectful of your neighbors and take your animal indoors if it barks for long periods or at off-hours (Complaints received along Bittern and Warbler Way).

Board elections: Lastly, residents are reminded that the Annual Meeting and Board Elections are in June. Four positions will be up for grabs, so if you’re interested please contact Board President Scott Thien at scottthien@comcast.net to get your name on the ballot.

As always, feel free to reach out to any Board member with questions or concerns. Hang in there – May is coming!
