Board Update: Essay contest winners, illegal leaf burning, Tuesday’s food truck, Clubhouse COVID-19 capacity change

Hello Eagle Nest residents,

Here’s a look at neighborhood news for the week of November 16:

"WHY I LOVE EAGLE NEST" ESSAY CONTEST WINNERS ANNOUNCED

Why do you love living in Eagle Nest? That’s the question we put to our residents in our recent essay contest. And while everyone has their reasons, there is a common thread in all the entries: our wonderful neighbors. Sure, it’s hard to beat the great location, well-kept homes, community amenities and events, the safe environment and so much more. But it’s you – our residents – who make our development a special place. So, without further ado, following are our contest winners and some excerpts:
  • First place: Todd and Rokeena Williams, 8111 Warbler Way: “Simply said, Eagle Nest knows how to make you fall deeply in love with your neighborhood.”
  • Second place: Brandon and Sarah Craney, 8144 Teel Way: “We are so lucky to have found Eagle Nest and are very happy here. We are truly at home.”
  • Third place: Jim and Nan Reinhardt, 7815 Gull Court: “We can’t think of any other neighborhood we’d rather be “stuck at home” in due to the pandemic!”
The Williams family wins a $50 gift card as top prize, with the Craney and Reinhardt families each earning $25 gift cards. To read their essays, click the About Eagle Nest link on the blog and scroll to the bottom. Thanks everyone for your submissions!

BE A GOOD NEIGHBOR: DON’T BURN YOUR LEAVES!

The Board reminds all residents that open burning of leaves is illegal in Marion County and carries fines up to $2,500 for each offense. The smoke and odor is a public nuisance and prevent neighbors from enjoying their porches and open windows during this unseasonably warm November. (Ahem, offenders in the 8000 block of Bittern, 8000 block of Tanager Lane and 8100 block of Tanager Court). Mulching, composting or bagging leaves for free pickup every Tuesday are more considerate options.

If you witness neighbors burning leaves, call the Mayor’s Action Center at (317) 327-4622 or 911 and file a non-emergency report. It takes a village, as the adage goes, to maintain a healthy, safe and welcoming neighborhood. We appreciate everyone’s cooperation in that effort.

Speaking of weekly leaf pickups, a few reminders: 40 bags max each week; plastic bags are recommended, but paper is accepted; bags must be out by 7 a.m. and placed away from your trash cart; and the pickup program ends December 1. More information: indy.gov/activity/leaf-collection-season.

CHEF TLC FOOD BUS COMING TUESDAY!

A food truck favorite returns to the Clubhouse on Tuesday, Nov. 17: ChefTLC! From 5-8 p.m., ChefTLC will serve up its soul-infused menu of freshly fried comfort foods. New this time: XXL hand-breaded pork tenderloins and apple dumplings! See our Facebook event for more menu items. As always, please observe CDC guidelines on social distancing and mask use, and be careful entering and leaving the Clubhouse parking lot. Be sure to watch the blog Events link for other upcoming food truck events.

NEW COVID RESTRICTIONS LIMIT CLUBHOUSE CAPACITY FOR RENTALS

Due to updated COVID-19 guidance issued by the City of Indianapolis, Clubhouse events now are limited to a maximum of 25 attendees until further notice. The countywide mask order remains in effect, as well. If you have an upcoming rental scheduled and can’t adhere to the capacity limit, contact Clubhouse Manager Kelly Dentler at clubhousemgr@att.net to reschedule or cancel your reservation (and recover your deposit). Neither the Association nor the Board is responsible for any fines issued for violating the city order.
