Board Update: “Meet the Neighbors” feature, Crime Watch meeting February 2, poll results on annual dues

Hello Eagle Nest residents,

Here’s a look at neighborhood news for the week of January 18:

YOU’RE INVITED: JOIN OUR “MEET THE NEIGHBORS” FEATURE

Eagle Nest is a great place to live, largely because of the wonderful folks found along every street. We’ve certainly seen this during the pandemic, where residents check on each other and, while safely socially distanced, stop and chat while out on walks or doing yard work.
During the summer, you would see neighbors arranging their chairs on opposite sides of the street to safely visit, laugh and share stories (and maybe a beverage or two).

Neighborliness like this is more important now than ever, so that’s why we continue to collect names for our new “Meet the Neighbors” feature – short neighbor profiles to help everyone get to know each other. Ideally, each feature would be based on the answers to these questions:
  • How long have you lived in Eagle Nest and where did you move from?
  • The kind of work you do or have done.
  • What you do for fun.
  • The things you like best about the neighborhood, and what you appreciate the most about your neighbors.
  • A fun or amusing story about your time in Eagle Nest.
If you can spare a few minutes to introduce yourself, please email your answers to scottthien@comcast.net along with a photo of yourself and a phone number for us to follow up. We’ll write a short article based on the information, maybe even add a little video clip, if you’re game. We welcome nominations of neighbors, too. Our goal: help more folks get to know other residents and feel a greater sense of community and support for each other.

CRIME WATCH MEETING ON FEBRUARY 2 AT CLUBHOUSE

On February 2, join us at 7 p.m. at the Clubhouse for the first Eagle Nest Crime Watch meeting of 2021. Led by Crime Watch chair Carolyn Goldenetz, the socially distanced in-person meeting will focus on best practices in cyber security. If you shop or bank online, or engage in any online activity really, you don’t want to miss this opportunity. An added bonus: We’ll have individualized boxed sandwiches, snacks and gift card drawings. Pre-registration is required so we can plan our meeting space and food order accordingly. To attend, please contact Carolyn at goldenetz@gmail.com.

POLL: WILL OUR ANNUAL DUES INCREASE IN 2021?

Last week’s Constant Contact poll question asked, “Annual dues statements are coming soon. Will dues increase or stay the same as last year?” The results from our 62 respondents:
  • Increase – 3.2% (2)
  • Stay the same – 96.8% (60)
The Board’s take: Good news! Thanks to the Board’s great stewardship of our resources, Eagle Nest annual dues will remain the same for the third-consecutive year. That $400 annual assessment is a bargain, too, when you compare our amenities – pool, clubhouse, common grounds, social activities, plowing and more – with other neighborhoods. We know it’s been a tough year with the pandemic for many residents, so the Board worked hard to contain costs while still providing the great services you expect. The poll results reflect your confidence in our ability to manage the association’s financial affairs. And for that we thank you. Besides, we’re neighbors, too, and we only want the best for our wonderful development.

IN OTHER NEWS:

Join the Board! In June, the Board will hold annual elections to fill several opening seats. If you’re interested in helping chart the future of the Northeastside’s best neighborhood development, email scottthien@comcast.net for information. Responsibilities include attending monthly meetings, voting on neighborhood business and fulfilling committee duties, as assigned.

Fixing street lights: If you spot a dark street light, please report it to IPL. Click this link and fill out few quick questions. You will need to include the pole tag number found at the top near the lighting element. Thanks in advance for your help.
