Save the dates: Holiday events coming this month!

Your Eagle Nest Board hopes everyone’s holiday season is off to a great start! Hard to believe it’s December already – seems like just yesterday we were enjoying beautiful fall weather.

In keeping with tradition, we’re excited to announce several holiday events for our neighborhood families to enjoy this month. Save these dates and plan to join us for:

Sunday, Dec. 10 (1-3 p.m.): Cookies with Santa! That’s right, the jolly old guy and his wife Mrs. Claus are returning to the Clubhouse for our annual cookie-fest with chocolate milk for the kids, and Mimosas and coffee with Bailey’s for the adults. We’ll have tables set up for the kids to decorate their own cookies, too. This is the perfect chance to snap some holiday photos, share your wish list with Santa and meet other Eagle Next residents. This event keeps getting bigger and bigger, so don’t miss out!

Wednesday, Dec. 20 (4-6 p.m.): Santa’s Neighborhood Drive-thru! As in years past, Santa will ride his sleigh (OK, a red pickup) through our development, stopped at every house on his route list. This year, he'll start at our 75th St. entrance, then head north on Teel Way, hitting every court and side street along the way, finishing at 82nd Street. In the spirit of giving, Santa will be collecting non-perishable snacks and bottled water for Fire Station 17 at 75th and Shadeland. This is another great opportunity to grab a family photo or selfie with Santa as we head into the Christmas weekend!

Monday, Dec. 25: Holiday Lights Contest! You know the drill – decorate your house or lot in the spirit of the holidays for a chance to win one of three gift cards! Top prize is $50, second place is $35 and $25 for third. Judging will take place at 6 p.m. Christmas night, so get those displays up!

Who will come out on top? Defending champ Ray Voss and Roa Dee Dimaano on Warbler Way, or longtime perennial powerhouse and neighbor Tom and Cindy Corbett? (Click here to see last year’s results.) Thanks to everyone for helping brighten our neighborhood during this festive time of year. (Results will be posted late Christmas night on our blog site and Facebook page.)

The Board hopes everyone’s fall season is off to a great start. October is shaping up to be a busy month in Eagle Nest – read on! 2023 Curb Appeal Awards winners announced! The Board is proud to recognize the following lots as winners of our 2023 Curb Appeal Awards, presented to Eagle Nest owners for their outstanding lot and house maintenance. First place (tied): 8031 Teel Way , above left, (Lot 52, Clayton Napier) and 8111 Warbler Way , above right (Lot 229, Todd and Rokeena Williams).  Both homes underwent extensive exterior renovations in recent years, including new roofing, new siding, new paint, wood repair, landscaping and more (all pre-approved by the Rules and Restrictions Committee, by the way). The owners could have saved considerable money by moving to a newer home in another neighborhood, but they chose to stay and invest in their properties. Board Update, 05-22-23: Pool opening, tags in mail; annual Garage Sale; dues deadline June 1; Annual Meeting and Board Election June 15

Summer unofficially begins Memorial Day weekend, and that means our Pool facility will be opening for the season. Our main and wading pools have been power-washed and filled, and our guard team will be working to balance the chemicals this week. Weather permitting, we are targeting noon Sunday for opening, but watch the Eagle Nest blog and our Facebook page for the official day and time. For 2023, hours of operation will be noon to 8 p.m. daily. We have a great lifeguard team in place again this year. Their No. 1 charge? Safety. When it comes to rules, what our guard staff says goes. No exceptions. Violators will be ejected and referred to the Board for further action. Bottomline: This is a family-oriented neighborhood facility, not a public pool playhouse, and want to keep it enjoyable for all. If you paid your dues by May 12, watch U.S. mail this week for your pool tags and a copy of the rules. If you paid after that, your tags may be delayed as we process those who paid on time firs

Board update: Pool closing Labor Day, annual dog swim, Curb Appeal Awards, live music coming to Clubhouse!

Pool closes Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 4  All good things come to and end, as the saying goes, and that includes our 2023 Pool season. Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 4, is the last day of operation for our facility, with hours from noon to 8 p.m. It’s been a great summer of swimming, despite a few mechanical and staffing issues, so please be sure to thank Pool Manager Samantha Burns and her lifeguard staff for a job well done. For the most part, our facility was staffed and open daily the entire summer, unlike many of the city’s public pools – including nearby Sahm Park. We hope to see all our guards back next year, but if you know someone interested in joining the Eagle Nest Pool staff, please contact Samantha. In the meantime, enjoy these last days of swimming!
