Summer has arrived in Eagle Nest, and the big neighborhood news is the opening of the Pool! Following is your June Board Update for more on that, as well as a few other need-to-know nuggets: Pool security fobs: Overwhelmingly positive support: That best sums up resident reaction to our new security fob system at the Pool this season. To date, nearly 300 of our 419 lot owners have picked up their fobs, a great indication of neighborhood appreciation for of our facility. To obtain your fob, you must contact Board VP Jason Van Meter jpvanmeter@sbcglobal.net or 317-755-7550 to make drop-off arrangements and sign a waiver/acceptance form. Fobs will only be issued to residents whose annual dues are paid in full and whose properties are clear of any covenant violations. Today is the day for our Neighborhood Garage Sale! Yep, today and tomorrow 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Eagle Nest residents are welcome and encouraged to join their neighbors for one big sale weekend! It's the perfect chance to purge your closets, garage or attic (and maybe find a few sweet deals in the process!). The Board posted signs at all the entrances earlier this week, so we expect a fair amount of pass-through traffic. Please use caution as you drive through the neighborhood as we likely will see frequently stopping cars. Good luck with your sales, everyone! (Residents are welcome to extend/modify their sale hours, of course.)

If you haven't obtained your Pool access fob yet, today is the last day for in-person pickup. Eagle Nest Board staff will be set up outside the main gate from 1-8 p.m. today. A few things to note: What to bring: Your lot number and ID. Also, today would be a great time to turn in your Board election ballot. Who is eligible: Only residents whose dues are paid and cleared can obtain pool fobs. Memorial Day is coming – and that means Pool season is upon us! We have lots to tell about our opening plans, so here goes: Pool opening: Noon to 8 p.m., Memorial Day, Monday, May 27. Due to scheduling issues with our pool company, it was a scramble to get the facility power washed, cleaned and filled, so the water may be a little cold. Fingers crossed the rain holds off. Pool Party: Noon to 2 p.m. Memorial Day. Free hotdogs, chips, popsicles, lemonade, and beer for the adults. Weather: Given the rainy weather forecast for Monday, watch the blog and Facebook page for updates on postponements or closures. New Pool fobs: All residents in good standing can pick up their new Pool fobs from noon to 8 p.m. Monday. Board members will be set up on the concrete pad outside the gate. Hello, Eagle Nesters! The Board hopes your spring is off to a great start. It’s hard to believe with all the cold, rainy weather of April that the Pool will be open in barely a month. In preparation for that, it’s time to share a few updates about the 2024 swim season: Nearly a dozen residents turn out to deep clean the Pool A huge thanks goes out to the volunteer team led by Bittern Lane residents John and Cindy Spicklemire for organizing a deep clean of Pool facility on Saturday, April 27. The team of 12 spent hours power washing the chairs to address years of sunblock stains and removing wall grime, while others pulled weeds, cleaned the tables and swept up debris. In return, the Board brought in Jimmy John’s sandwiches, chips and water to keep our cleaning crew fueled up. That was a small price to pay for what would have cost thousands of dollars in labor and time to hire a contractor to do the same work. Please use caution and watch for debris exiting our Tanager-Hague Road entrance. Our decades-old brick and stone sign was destroyed in a two-car accident about 10:30 p.m. Saturday, April 6. Fortunately, no one was hurt. Thanks to the Tanager Lane residents who alerted the Board and helped with initial cleanup. The Board will begin insurance claims this week, but it’s unclear how long that will take and when a new sign will be installed.

We get it, everyone's busy. So much going on all the time. That's why a few years ago we combined two of our most popular neighborhood events -- our Chili Cookoff and Beerfest -- into one, hoping a bigger event would draw bigger crowds. Unfortunately, that's not the case this year, because the number of registered participants is down from previous years. Maybe nobody likes chili or beer anymore (unlikely). Or maybe schedules just aren't working out this year (more likely). Either way, we'd like to see at least 30 people registered by Wednesday, March 13, or the Board will be forced to cancel the event for lack of support this year. (We have 15 at this writing.) On the fence about attending?
