Playground construction to start Monday

Just a quick update to let everyone know that construction on the playground will begin Monday. Recreation Unlimited of Noblesville, the vendor/installer for the project, was swamped with playground orders this summer, many of which were large out-of-state projects and schools.

That means our Playground Dedication Celebration will move to the first weekend in October. Watch your friendly neighborhood blog for the day, either Saturday or Sunday. Be sure to bring the kids, because the Social Committee will have little prizes, snacks and a group photo for those on hand at 1:30 p.m. Questions or want to volunteer to help? Call Clubhouse Manager Kelly Wright at 847-7928 or email her at kellygwright@yahoo.com.

The Board would like to thank everyone for their patience and understanding for the delay in getting the project done. Sure, the Board could have chosen a different vendor and perhaps gotten things done a month or so earlier, but the Directors didn't want to sacrifice quality, given the limited options that fit our budget. Further, the playground will be a focal point for the neighborhood's children, of course, so the board also wanted to ensure resident satisfaction by installing a set with the best recreational options and safety features. Recreation Unlimited satisfied all those needs.

Residents, please be aware: When installation is finished, a 4-foot high retaining wall will run the length of the 50-foot-long playground area, which will be cut into the side of the hill on the west side of the pool. The Board has ordered a safety fence to cordon off the area and to protect against accidental falls, but that installation could be mid-October. Parents and children should use caution when walking around the playground's retaining wall area.

Click here for a previous post with details about the selected playground set.

As always, feel free to contact any Board member if you have questions/concerns/suggestions about this or any neighborhood issue (click here for a list of contacts). Hope everyone has a great autumn season ....
