Sidewalk Chalk Art Contest winners announced!

The results of our first Sidewalk Chalk Art Contest are in, and we have some fantastic creations to unveil! Congratulations to our first, second and third place winners for showing off their positive creativity: Fischer family, 7800 block of Teel Way; Boits family, 8300 block of Dove Court; and Gardner family, 8000 block of Teel Way. All of our top finishers win two Jet’s Pizzas, redeemable any Thursday night at the Clubhouse (5-7 p.m., weather permitting).


We thank all those who submitted entries. Our judging committee received a lot of positive feedback about the contest, so watch the blog, Facebook and weekly email blasts for dates on another contest soon! (We realize not all lots have sidewalks, but the streets and curbs in the courts are acceptable canvasses, too.) Great job, kids – you inspire us all during these stressful COVID-19 times!

The Board hopes everyone’s fall season is off to a great start. October is shaping up to be a busy month in Eagle Nest – read on! 2023 Curb Appeal Awards winners announced! The Board is proud to recognize the following lots as winners of our 2023 Curb Appeal Awards, presented to Eagle Nest owners for their outstanding lot and house maintenance. First place (tied): 8031 Teel Way , above left, (Lot 52, Clayton Napier) and 8111 Warbler Way , above right (Lot 229, Todd and Rokeena Williams).  Both homes underwent extensive exterior renovations in recent years, including new roofing, new siding, new paint, wood repair, landscaping and more (all pre-approved by the Rules and Restrictions Committee, by the way). The owners could have saved considerable money by moving to a newer home in another neighborhood, but they chose to stay and invest in their properties. Board update: Pool closing Labor Day, annual dog swim, Curb Appeal Awards, live music coming to Clubhouse!

Pool closes Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 4  All good things come to and end, as the saying goes, and that includes our 2023 Pool season. Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 4, is the last day of operation for our facility, with hours from noon to 8 p.m. It’s been a great summer of swimming, despite a few mechanical and staffing issues, so please be sure to thank Pool Manager Samantha Burns and her lifeguard staff for a job well done. For the most part, our facility was staffed and open daily the entire summer, unlike many of the city’s public pools – including nearby Sahm Park. We hope to see all our guards back next year, but if you know someone interested in joining the Eagle Nest Pool staff, please contact Samantha. In the meantime, enjoy these last days of swimming! The winners of the 2023 Holiday Lights Contest are ...

Every year, judging for our annual Holiday Lights Contest gets tougher and tougher, and 2023 was no exception. This year’s challenge: sizing up more than 100 homes with lot decorations in a variety of colorful shapes, sizes and configurations, some traditional, some creative, all a colorful sign of season. Our independent judge from out-of-state (a former resident, no less!) struggled with all the choices, but after applying stringent judging criteria and washing it through our patented AI matrix, she came up with the following results: 1ST PLACE: 8250 Warbler Way (Tom and Cindy Corbett) Judge’s comment: "Last year's second-place finisher – and previous five-time winner – reclaims the top spot, though barely as competition was stiff all across the neighborhood.
