Board Update: Holiday Lights Contest judging, Jet’s Pizza returns this week, how to fix dark street lights

Hello Eagle Nest residents,

Here’s a look at neighborhood news for the week of December 7:

HOLIDAY LIGHTS CONTEST JUDGING ON MONDAY, DECEMBER 7

A reminder that judging for our annual Holiday Lights Contest will occur on Monday, Dec. 7. The rules are simple: The most festive lot wins!  Simply have your exterior lights on and lot decorations on display by 7 p.m. First place earns a $50 gift card, with prizes for second and third place, too. We’ll post the winners on the blog and Facebook, so stay tuned. Happy holidays, everyone!

JET’S PIZZA IS BACK!

Neighborhood favorite Jet’s Pizza returns this week – 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 9, at the Clubhouse. You know the drill: $5 personal pizzas (cash only), in your choice of sausage, pepperoni or cheese, hot, boxed and ready to go. Jet’s sells out fast when they visit, so get there early. Once they’re gone, they’re gone. As always, please observe CDC guidelines on social distancing and mask use, and use caution entering and exiting the Clubhouse parking lot. Be sure to watch the blog Events link for more food vendor events.

HOW TO GET DARK STREET LIGHTS FIXED: IT’S EASY!

If you spot a dark street light in our neighborhood, the Board would appreciate your help in reporting it to IPL for repair. It’s easy to do, too: Click this IPL link and fill out the short form with the address closest to the light pole. You will need to include the pole tag number, found at the top near the lighting element. You can use the same link if you spot a damaged or downed pole, as well. The Board tries to keep an eye out for light problems, but we don’t drive every street every day so extra sets of eyes are appreciated. As the adage goes it takes a village to keep our community happy, healthy and safe. Thanks in advance for your help.

In other news:

BARKING DOGS: If you experience constant barking from nearby dogs, contact the Mayor’s Action Center and file a complaint: www.indy.gov/activity/how-to-report-animal-complaints. Be sure to cite the Indianapolis City Code’s nuisance ordinance (Sec. 531-204), which includes fines or removal for habitual offenders. Or, maybe just politely mention the noise to your neighbor.
