Board Update week of April 11, 2022: Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, potholes help, ClearPath465, recycling event

Annual Easter Egg Hunt on April 16 at the Clubhouse

After a hiatus due to the pandemic, our hugely popular annual Easter Egg Hunt is back this year! Join us 1-2 p.m. Saturday, April 16 (weather permitting), outside the Clubhouse for a family friendly FREE event open to all residents’ children and grandchildren (ages 10 and younger). The Board is teaming up with the Easter Bunny to hide dozens of candy-filled plastic eggs around the Playground area and Clubhouse front area. Participants should bring their own baskets.

The mad scramble for eggs will begin at 1 p.m. sharp (and it’s usually over in 15 minutes!), so we don’t recommend showing up late. Parents, please remind your kids to be courteous and to watch out for the littlest ones, too.

The forecast looks decent, but we suggest you dress for the weather and be prepared to get a little muddy if there’s rain overnight. Clubhouse Manager Kelly Dentler welcomes parents who would like to help distribute the eggs and generally supervise the afternoon. Contact her at clubhousemgr@att.net.

The egg hunt is the first of many neighborhood social events ahead in 2022. Be sure to check the Events tab on the blog site for more activities!

Another plea for resident help reporting those potholes

As you may have read in our last Board Update, we asked for residents’ help in calling or emailing our city officials to fix the growing – and dangerous -- pothole problem in our development. It’s been more than two months since the Board filed repair requests with the city, but we’ve seen no action. So we’re asking for your help again.

Please take a moment and contact City-County Councilor Ethan Evans aEthan.Evans2@indy.gov and 317-327-4242, and Mayor Neighborhood representative Natalie Van Dongen at Natalie.VanDongen@Indy.Gov and 317-327-5121 and press them to put our tax dollars to work. The areas most in need of attention: our Hague Road entrance, and the growing series of craters in the 7900 block of Tanager Lane. Thank you.

ClearPath465 project begins with area closures, restrictions

By now, you probably have heard about ClearPath465, the multi-year interstate access improvement project involving multiple road, bridge, ramp and lane closures and new noise barriers throughout the Northeast corridor over the next four years. Project completion is targeted for 2025. Recent developments:

  • Building demolition: Carvana and two other buildings near I-69 and 82nd Street were razed recently, with fill and grading underway to make way for a temporary exit ramp.
  • Bridge underpass closed: A small section of 71st Street, just west of Shadeland Avenue, will be closed for 2-3 years as crews lower the roadway grade under the bridge overpass. The underpass is expected to reopen briefly in May, then close again early June through late 2022.
  • Tree and landscaping removal: Crews have begun removing trees and other vegetation along I-465 in preparation for widening the ramp exiting south onto Binford Blvd.

More changes are ahead, too. Initial restrictions will occur on 465 northbound and westbound and will include long-term closures of:

  • Allisonville Road on-ramp to eastbound 465
  • Northbound Binford Blvd on-ramp to westbound I-465
  • Shadeland Ave./56th St. on-ramp to northbound I-465
