Beer Fest moved to January 24; new event Kids Play Fun Day added to 2020 social calendar

The Eagle Nest Board hopes everyone’s New Year is off to a happy and healthy start. With spring still nine weeks away, we know residents will be looking for ways to break up the winter blahs. We have the answer: Come to the Clubhouse for fun – and free! -- neighborhood events, all designed to bring our residents together and enjoy all the goodness that is Eagle Nest. What’s coming up:

Annual Beer Fest – 7-11 p.m. Friday, January 24 (Date change!): One of our most popular events, residents (21+ only) are invited to bring a growler (or two) of their favorite craft beer (cans and bottles are fine, too) to share and sample. We’ll have tunes, gift card giveaways and great food (Hermanaki wings from Ale Emporium, trail mix, chips. Donations welcome.) Not into beer? Bring wine or soda, whatever. The point is, it’s a chill event to meet cool neighbors -- and you’re not far from home. Bring a guest, join us! Volunteers welcome. Email Board member Alice Miley at alicemiley23@gmail.com.
Kids Play Fun Day – 6:30-9 p.m. Friday, March 6 (New event!): If you attended our Cookies With Santa last month, you saw how popular it was with the kids. Dozens of kids of all ages turned out for games, cookie decorating and lots of laughs. The feedback from parents: Do more! So, we’re starting themed play day fun days -- a chance for kids (and parents) to gather for kid movies, pajama parties, hide and seek, and more. It’s not a dump-your-kid-and-run thing; we want the play time for our kids while fostering new parent friendships, babysitter exchanges, and fun social events for moms who need a break. Want in? RSVP by email to coordinating resident Christique Brimmage at christiqueb@gmail.com.
And when spring finally arrives?
Easter Egg Hunt – 3-4 p.m. Sunday April 5: A longtime Eagle Nest tradition, our annual Easter Egg Hunt on the common grounds around the Clubhouse draws a huge crowd every year. Rain, snow or shine, our event will go on, whether inside or outside the Clubhouse. We’ll have light refreshments, kid games and small toy prizes. Bring your own basket – and don’t forget your camera or cell phone. It’s always great to capture the smiling faces of the kids in their Easter holiday outfits!

But there’s more! Check our Events Calendar for a complete list of summer Family Fun Nights, featuring Jet’s Pizza sales. Also coming in 2020: We’ll have our annual Garage Sale, July 4 Parade, annual Pool Party and lots more in between, so keep an eye on the blog for more details. There’s always something going on for our residents, but it takes a village to make it happen.

Thanks to our Social Committee (Board member Alice Miley, Secretary/Bookkeeper Chris’e Van Meter and resident volunteer Christique Brimmage) for all their behind-the-scenes work on these events.
As always, feel free to reach out to me or any Board member with neighborhood suggestions or social event ideas. Like you, we’re residents, too, and want the best for our development. Happy New Year!

Scott Thien, President
Eagle Nest Board
